I find water both exciting and peaceful -- threatening yet protective. Until recently, my greatest fear was drowning. Now, when I see a body of water, I drown. But it is a drowning into life -- a loss of myself and an immersion into something more vast -- a Baptism. I sense at these times that all the inhabitants of the water -- fish, bugs, rocks, birds, plants -- share this connection. How could they not?
Water reflects the Infinite. It constantly reminds me that I am only a ripple in God's eye -- an appearance that lasts a breath -- an amusement -- a delight.
As a fine art photographer my goal is to have no goal. To let the images happen. Not to hunt for the trophy picture but to be open to a music that transcends and yet contains everything -- including my desires.
